Gilberto Cratin: Why not just upgrade to a new Linksys of somesort. I have an old Linksys WRT54G v5 with verzion DSL 3mb connection and have no complaints. Great speeds, good security and reliability. I hear nothing but bad remarks about Belkins, not to sure about D-Links though, but guess they all have their ups and downs
Derick Kinnard: hub or switch , then each computer with a network card, CAT5 cable and they are now hooked up, then you need to set parameters to enable them to talk to each other.
Irvin Guiles: your router probably doesn't support 1gbps but your computer does, most router on the market is 100/10 only some good one has 1gbps support go check your router model on the manufacter website just to make sure don't take my word for it
Dallas Bartolini: We keep ours at about 72 F.
Doreatha Kjellsen: The word âânetworkââ is used now a days is a broaden view. Here network means connection between two or more electronic device just ! like computer and computer related device. A computer network consists of a collection of computer, printers and other equipment that is connected together so that they can communicate with each other. The computer network is created by the following components:1. A computer with land card2. One Switch or hub 3. Two set of network cable. Now you can learn more information from the source...Show more
Demetrius Coaster: There is no correct or incorrect answer. I know a large utility that maintains 70 degrees, we keep ours at 65. Interestingly, my computer at home runs all day in sometimes 100 degree heat during the summer and it is now 6 years old - no problems. Personally I think a steady temp is most important. The newer computer equipment these days tends to run hotter. The reasonable guideline is how much is at risk, and who will be to blame if problems occur?
Newton Fedorko: What temperature should my server room be? Please list any sources to support your c! laims (if possible).
Bernie Cerra: This Site Might Help ! You.RE:What temperature should my server room be?What temperature should my server room be? Please list any sources to support your claims (if possible).
Booker Warlick: Your computers have gigabit network ports in them, and your router probably only has 100 megabit ports. You're only as fast as the weakest link.
Cletus Crotts: Server Room Humidity
Rodrigo Pezley: When hooking directly from PC to PC, if they both have gigabit adapters, this would be why they would register 1Gbps, but if you connect them to your router and your router,s is only a 10/100Mbps, or example, that could be why you're only getting 100Mbps. You'll only get the top speed that your router is capable of. If your router IS capable of 1Gbps, only thing I can think of is a speed restriction from within the router's set up page..
Tyrone Disanti: See if you waan to know about computer network then you need to have good knowledge about computers becasue computer network it is vast. O! k i will tel you a simple words what is computer network. A computer network is where to Computer communcate with eachother us Hardware and software. following are the steps u need to have to creat a computer network.1-----> 2 Computer with Lan Card2-----> One Switch or Hub3-----> 2 set of Network Cable (A & B)(as long as u need) clpimed from both side using RJ45 connectornow Following are the steps to start creating a computer network1------> 1st take Cable (A) pluged one end into the computer Lan Card and the other End into the Switch.2------> then take Cable (B) pluged one end into the computer Lan Card and the other End into the Switch.3-----> Then right click on My Network Places then Click Property.4-----> You will see 2 thing Make New Connection and Local Area Connection. 5-----> Right Click on Local Area Connection and click on property and the one small window will open.6----> Then click on Internet Protocal (TCP/IP) and click on properties 7----> Then clic! k on Use the Following IP Address.8------> Then in Ip Address Put the f! ollowing Ip 192.168.1.2 then click tab and then press ok and the ok . (All this is dont in computer A) following the same thing in computer (B) but change the IP to 192.168.1.3. The Ip should not be same. so that's it ur network is done.Thank you Nadeem_sayed (9970205014)...Show more
Jen Maday: A computer network is a group of computers connected together for the purpose of sharing resources. On the other hand, we can say "a group of computing devices connected via a form of communications technology, which is connected via cables or the Internet in order to gain access to a common server or to share programs, files and other information."
Sang Hanafin: Why is it that when i plug my UTP or LAN cable from pc to my other pc directly ... . . a pop up balloon pops in my system tray and it says "1 gbps" but when i plug my UTP or LAN cable to my router it only show "100 mbps" connection
Elden Dedon: As above
Donnell Nocella: Keep in mind the Westell 610! 0 is a modem/Router. I'm a fan of the linksys WRT54G. You can get one for under $40 bucks on ebay. Gives you 4 ports and wireless.Remember you have to turn off the routing in the second box. You can only have one router on your LAN. I posted the how to earlier. See my previous posts.
Billie Bratchett: A network is just a group of computers, usually setup for internet, file and printer sharing. Nothing real special about it. It can make things easier by communicating from pc to pc. For instance on mine, I have a partition on a hard drive for recovery/reinstallation files for each pc on my network. So if I have to format one of them, I then just go to my pc on the network and just reinstall software and drivers from there, that way im not taking a ton of cds with me to the other pc....Show more
Ricardo Rozelle: A computer network is made up of 2 or more computers that communicate over a physical wired or a wireless medium. Each of these computers shares in commo! n data and/or resources. To creat a network, you will (of course) need t! wo computers at least, a determination of what medium you will use to communicate between or among all of these computers, a dtermination as to what communication protocol will be used (this is usually through what is called IP, or Internet Protocol) and a determination as to what resources will be shared, and where these resources will be stored. You may assign one or the other computers on the network as where files are stored, or you may attach onto the network what is called a "server."...Show more
Florencia Manolakis: As per gerbear, there is no hard and fast rule. Most I have seen have been in the 18-20C range. The important think to remember is that equipment will have temperature ranges specified, and you absolutely must keep temperatures within those ranges. Normally those ranges are quite high. The other aspect is that even with dark datacentres, people have to go in from time to time to change or repair things. The temperatre should also be reasonably comfort! able for people, so 18-20 is normal. To save costs it is not unreasonable to run a couple of degrees higher.
Marcellus Yoshimori: Szymon has taught Computer Science at a number of Higher Education institutions.A computer network is a set of computers connected together for the purpose of sharing resources. Francis Stickle: According to the general recommendations, it is advisable that the temperature of a server room should not drop below 10°C (50°F), or exceed above 28°C (82°F). However, these two are the recommended temperature extremes, for safe use one should always keep a margin of 5 degrees in both the temperature extremes. The most ambient temperature for a server room is 20-21°C (68-71°F).
Mandy Mustaro: I agree with "Giant" i have also have! a 1 GB router but how am i going to configure my router's speed? at th! e browser and type it's ip? there's nothing in there about bandwidths.... any other way?
Wally Perrien: The temperature in the server room is important and to be green it should be somewhere below but close to 22 degrees C.Of more importance is the way that the equipment is installed, in cabinets and racks, how the cold air is distributed, how hot air is handled. Are you using overhead ducts, or are you using raised floor? The exhaust from one device should not blow on the intake for another device. Are there air filters that have to be kept clean? You need to have an experienced person look at your installation and make recommendations.I was working in a data communications lab and told that designers of the lab that the way that they were running cables through the floor and the way that they cooled the equipment cabinets, that they were going to experience heating issues. The room temperature was 68 degrees F. They said that I did not know what I was talking abou! t. In 6 months they were looking at ways to cool the cabinets that I told them they were going to have trouble with heat.
Sammy Tabatt: Computer Networking is a meaner computer that are geographically distributed, but connected in a manner to enable meaningful transmission and exchange of data among them.
Lissette Semon: A computer network is anytime more than one computer or computer like device establishes communication. When you are on the Internet you are connecting to and becoming a part of the largest computer network in the world. Are you asking about creating your own Local Area Network(LAN)?Do you want it to be wired or wireless? What do you plan to use it for?I'll make a leap of faith and assume you want to create a wireless network so you can share your Internet connection with multiple computers at home. If that's not it, feel free to email me.Let's cover what you need to get Internet access to more than one computer at home, via wireless LAN (loca! l area network). The concept is the same for WIRED networks. Add Cat5e E! thernet cables and Network Interface Cards (NICs), instead of wireless adapters to each computer. You can use a wired router instead of a wireless router if you plan on being wired only. Treat an Xbox 360 just like any other computer. Xbox 360 needs a wireless adapter too.1. You order or use your existing Cable, DSL, FiOS, Satellite, or Tin Can Internet access, doesnât matter what brand of access you have or where you are located geographically in the world. An Ethernet TCP/IP based LAN is the same in China as it is in Germany.2. Your Internet Service Provider sets up your Internet access and typically either rents or sells you a network bridge. They often refer to this as a âmodemâ. Actually a complete misnomer since the device does NOT MOdulate or DEModulate.Prices for residential âHigh Speedâ Internet access vary from approximately $19 per month for low end DSL to $200 per month for the fastest FiOS option in the United States. This varies based on bandwidth, l! ocation, and provider. At this point you have what is commonly referred to as âBroad Bandâ or âHigh Speedâ Internet access, basically meaning it isnât dial-up or ISDN.Now you want to share that âhigh speedâ connection with more than one system. You want to be able to cart your laptop all over the house and stay connected to the Internet as you roam the house and back yard. Yes this will slow everyone down a little bit, but it's really your only choice at home. It is a shared connection. When you and your house mates are downloading at the same time youâll notice a lower download speed. 1. Confirm that your system has a wireless adapter or get one and install it. It is a hardware device you can buy at CompUSA or Best Buy or your local computer parts store. Costs vary depending on the brand and type you buy from about $20 for a refurbished 802.11 g model to $80 for the top of the line 802.11 N draft 2.0 types. You need one of these for each computer. USB type a! re better because you can use it with a laptop or desktop without openi! ng the case to install it. You can also use one USB type with multiple computers at different times. USB type that are 802.11 n Draft 2.0 that are Wi-Fi certified are the best.2. Get a wireless router. I recommend the D-Link DIR-655. Cost is around $140 or so. Get D-Link n series USB wireless adapters if you get the D-Link wireless router. If you get a Netgear wireless router, get Netgear wireless adapters. They work BETTER together if they are the same brand. This isnât a requirement, merely a suggestion.2a. If you are setting up a WIRED LAN I recommend Netgear routers and switches. I have a Netgear switch that is still operational after constant use and abuse over ten years.3. Plug the wireless(or wired) router directly into the Cable or DSL network bridge via an Ethernet cable. DO NOT plug your computer into the Cable, DSL, Satellite or Tin Can network bridge "modem". Plug your wireless router into it.4. Unplug the electrical cord from your network bridge for 30-45 sec! onds.5. Plug the power cable back in to your network bridge.6. Check the network bridge for green lights.7. Make sure that the properties of TCP/IP are set to Obtain IP address automatically, and obtain DNS automatically on ALL of your computers, your Xbox, and the router.8. Turn on or reboot your system(s).Now you should be able to stay connected to the Internet with all of your computers. If you can not access the Internet from every computer:Attempt to log in to your wireless router via your web browser (internet exploder or Firefox) by typing in (http://192.168.1.1/) This address may vary depending on the brand and model of wireless router you purchase. Check the manual for the default IP address and the username and password for your router. Then log in (Admin and admin typically). Be sure to change the password to something of your own choosing that is LONG. I label the bottom of the routers I set up with the Username and Password using my P-touch. I also label the bott! om with the WPA-PSK password. If you do this be sure not to cover the v! ent holes of the router with the label. Enable DHCP on the router by following the instructions in the manual. You only need one wireless router for you wireless LAN. One wireless router can accommodate up to 253 wireless computers. You can use combinations of wired and wireless routers together but typically one wireless router is sufficient for all your needs. In rare instances you may need a wireless router and a switch. For SECURITY:1. Don't announce the SSID of your wireless router.2. Use WPA2-PSK if you can. WPA-PSK if not WPA2. WEP is too easy to get into. If WEP is your only choice I wouldnât bother enabling it.3. Input the MAC addresses of all of your computers into the MAC routing table of your wireless router and ONLY ALLOW from the addresses in the table of the wireless router.4. Turn the SPI firewall of the wireless router ON.5. Filter anonymous or incomplete packets.6. Only assign the DHCP pool of the router enough IP addresses for your total number of systems! . If you have 3 desktops, 2 laptops and an Xbox 360, you need 6 IP addresses internally, for your LAN. So set your DHCP pool on the wireless router to 192.168.100.1 â" 192.168.100.5 for example. If this all seems too complex and complicated to do, use local.yahoo.com to find a wireless network specialist near you. This is Wireless for your home LAN. There isn't a wireless Internet. We just have one, Internet. Wi-Fi is a brand name like IBM....Show more

Giovanna Cramblit: The recommended temperature for a server room is around 68 degrees F and a relative humidity! between 45 percent and 60 percent. Keeping humidity balanced helps to ! reduce dust cause by dryness and prevent dampness that can cause damage to systems not to mention static which can be caused by low humidity. Humidity has to be NONCONDENSING.
Gladys Worthing: 65F-75F but temp is not the most important thing to monitorHUMIDITY will be the killer dont let the humidity get to high or to low.Temperature Ambient temperature in a server room is typically the temperature that is being focused on. However one must realize that temperature in the room can be very different from the temperature in a server rack.It is generally recommended that temperature inside a rack is not to exceed 23°C or 73° F. Sensors are best located in the server racks rather than in the room as ambient temperature will rise at a slower pace compared to the temperature in the rack. As hot air climbs compared to cold air, it is recommended to put the sensor in the hotest spot of the rack. Humidity Most people understand the need for having temperature sensors in a se! rver room but the dangers of humidity are less known.Low relative humidity (as of 35% rH) has the danger of causing electrostatic discharge (ESD). ESD is caused by static charges resulting from people movement, charges on furniture etc... These charges are mostly not noticeable but when discharged to or in proximity of IT equipment, they can cause severe damage to the equipment. Another danger of low humidity is the break down of some plastics in your equipment resulting in premature aging of it. To overcome the danger of low humidity, moisture is often added to temperature controlling systems to avoid too dry conditions in server rooms. High humidity or rapid temperature drops result in condensation that can occur on any surface. Water can condensate on the inside of IT equipment and cause rust or dust & dirt being deposited. This pose a great risk to the components and as a result to the availability of the equipment. Relative Humidity (rH) is server rooms should be aroun! d 50% with a +/- 10% margin.
