How can I network a Win2kPro computer to one running WinXpPro?

Olin Hallin: You will need to configure both computers to be part of the same "workgroup" (tech name for a local network without a server). From the Control Panel, click on the System icon. You should see a tab called Computer Name. Open the tab,and you will see listing for the computer name or the workgroup name for each of the PCs. Use the "Network ID" button to join both of them to same workgroup. (Does not matter what you call it, "workgroup" is probably the most common name used - but you call it anything.)Once they are both in the same workgroup, you can go into My Network Places and view the entire network. You will be able to see the other computer. To access files or folders on the other computer, they will have to be shared (right click on the file/folder and go into the "sharing" option.)...Show more
