Does bleach get laundry cleaner?

Granville Stray: There was once a commercial on TV that said that Clorox and Clorox 2 for colors kill bacteria that regular detergent leaves behind. With that being said. Towels, underwear, dish towels, washcloths and sheets/bedding get bleached in my house. EDIT** I also read an article that fecal matter from your clothes can spread to other clothing items in the wash if the water temperature is not hot enough to kill it. Think about that the next time you wash your face....yuck.EDIT AGAIN*** I found this as well; The Laundry:A single pair of underwear contains, on average, one-tenth to 10 grams (!?!) of fecal matter containing, among other things, the rotavirus, which causes diarrhea, and the hepatitis virus. [I hope that 10 grams was in a diaper.] Washing underwear with other clothes simply distributes the fecal matter through the load. Infection from this matter most likely occurs while the clothes are being moved from the washer to the dryer; the dryer usually k! ills the harmful substances. Bleach helps kill the bacteria and viruses in the wash; so does disinfecting the washing machine by running an empty load of just detergent and bleach. In about 50% of homes studied, fecal matter was found in family washing machines. No studies have been done on laundromats....Show more

Dawn Saha: i bleach towels and wash cloths, dish rags, socks, and undies, (not together) i wash kitchen laundry seperate... just cuz the thought of what if the bleach doesnt really kill everything.

Rebbecca Sorkin: If you wash these items on 95 deg C or 60 deg C they will be sanitised. Otherwise you do need to put bleach in the washer or buy a detergent that has it already added. It is probably better to use an oxygenated bleach as it is safer for coloured items (and if you spill some on yourself).

Luke Creitz: Fecal matter? I'll worry about that when I have kids... no diapers = no fecal matter, we ladies wipe ourselves properly, thanks.

Ronny Dorge: It might get the laundry cleaner, but at what c! ost to you and your roommates health? Chlorine bleach and many other household cleaners and laundry products contain harsh chemical that are bad for you, your home and your planet. Does anyone in your home suffer from allergies or asthma? It could be in part due to the cleaning products your using.I have used Shaklee products for 12 years and have been very pleased. They are very effective, very safe and very economical.Go to www.shaklee.net/lauraridley for more info...Show more

Asa Soho: bleach helps kill the germs in ur landry, imagine the stuff that could be in them towels,do want to dry off with that the next time u shower

Cornelius Thornborrow: Your roommate is crazy. Soap is soap is soap, and soap cleans.
