is my marriage valid without marriage license?

Gilberto Cratin: Your marriage is valid to you and your family but it may not be in the jurisdiction that you are in. Typically a marriage license has to be applied for and registered. I would ask your local courthouse/ service department that deals with marriage licenses.

Coy Tapley: Honey, I feel it would be VERY WISE to call the county Court House where your marriage took place. Ask them IF they have a record of your marriage. IF they do, you want a copy of it, asked them for a "raised seal" copy of your marriage certificate. The "raised seal" denotes the original copy. They'll tell you how much it costs, send it to them, it will be mailed to you. This is how I got a copy of my divorce paperwork which was 5 states from where I live. BTW, mine was only $10.00 for my paperwork, just to give you an idea of approx. cost...best to you, honey...:)...Show more

For dangerous filing methods, the validity of the marriage will not be in query. The one difficulty is one in all licity, and on this instance, it is not really a major difficulty. Yeah, you need an actual divorce....Show more
