Do snakes need entertainment?

Hunter Osterberger: Snakes don't need "toys" as such, but they very much appreciate things to hide under, inside or behind - which is why your snake is investigating the toilet paper rolls. I would also recommend putting in branches to climb on, maybe cork bark or something to hide under...

Morris Olexy: Hope you are not one of those who are turning then loose in Florida when they get to big. That's a problem, and will be getting much worse in coming years when people are part of there diet.

Rana Rudell: All creatures enjoy interaction. Why have a pet snake if you don't interact with it in some way? You could more cheaply support a ceramic snake or a painting of a snake.

Annabell Bevier: I'm sure it's exploring the new things you put in it's tank. Maybe put some branches in there for him to climb on. He should also have a box or rock (petsmart makes plastic hide away rocks) to go inside to hide in. I don't know that it's entertainment or just something ! they do... but they do like to climb things and hide under things.

Tom Romer: snake needs a snake with it so they can play!!

Wilburn Denice: it's a snake...

Antonia Quinnett: No. Snakes don't have a thought process and are simple creatures. They'll take advantage of a hide if one is provided, but as long as their needs are met (food, water and heat), they are content. They can't get bored. Their life is basically sleeping and looking for food.

Son Ahlers: some of you guys are idiots, I own a Florida king snake, putting in another snake would be disastrous.

Elfreda Grossen: A hide, a water dish thats not going to tip over and a branch or two. Have a decent amount of substrate so they can burrow. I have a Sinaloan Milk Snake and they act the same.

Jacques Vaquera: For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/aw2ZQHello, It sounds like quite the project. Make sure to use materials that will not absorb water, as the inside of! the enclosure will need to be very humid. If you are sticking! with wood, you will need to seal it with a non-toxic sealer. Also, make sure that whatever access design you go with, that it can lock. Goodluck...Show more
